Quality/Awards

Quality Status

Salus’ aim is to always meet and exceed customer expectations and it achieves this through regular monitoring and review of service delivery. This includes regular reporting as agreed with the client.

Salus has an externally accredited ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System and all services are delivered in line with this system.

Salus has also been awarded the Faculty of Occupational Medicine’s SEQOHS (Safe Effective Quality Occupational Health Services) accreditation, the first NHS Scotland Occupational Health organisation to achieve this status.

The certification process, administered by the Royal College of Physicians of London was recently established to support, raise and reward quality in occupational health services in the NHS and private sector. Salus was required to submit evidence to demonstrate that it meets a set of rigorous standards and the process culminated in an assessment visit in October.

In confirming full accreditation for 5 years, the assessors congratulated Salus on its thorough Clinical Governance, strong internal communications, and appraisal and development of staff. The service was described by the assessors as ‘visionary’ and ‘a model that others should follow’.

Dr Imran Ghafur, Clinical Director of Salus, said "SEQOHS accreditation is a welcome addition to the ISO 9001:2015 Certification that Salus has held for over a decade. This award is an endorsement of the quality of our service, not just to the NHS but also the diverse range of public and private clients who contract occupational health services from Salus".

This subjects Salus activity to internal and external monitoring which supports continuous quality improvement and assists Salus' compliance with NHS Lanarkshire Clinical Governance systems.

As part of its Quality Management System, Salus regularly surveys the satisfaction of customers, including attendees and referring managers. Salus consistently receives positive feedback on the quality of service delivery and support. This feedback helps to identify ways in which we can improve the quality and effectiveness of the services we provide to our customers.

Salus has always sought to continually evaluate and develop the services provided to clients. This has allowed it to develop innovative solutions to support organisations in managing health at work and improving management of sickness absence.
